Nyles Reed
Nyles Dunbar Reed 1931-2017 Nyles D. Reed, passed away in the early morning of Jan 5, 2017. A resident of Pearland for 30 years, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Nyles was born on Oct 4, 1931, in Lucedale, MS. He grew up in Houston, attending Klein H.S., where he played Varsity sports. In 1951, Nyles joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving honorably in the Korean War. Nyles received a Purple Heart, as well as other Commendations. After the War, Nyles attended the University of Houston, graduating with a Bachelors in Geology. He retired from a career in sales, spanning more than four decades, for multiple petrochemical companies. Nyles is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 56 years, Francis Braly Reed, and son, Glenn Reed. He is survived by son, Tony Reed; daughter, Rebecca Shapley and husband; brother-in-law, Mark Braly and wife; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Brookside Funeral Home on the Eastex Fwy in Houston, on Jan 12 at Noon
