Norma D. Harper
Harper, Norma D. 83 Aug. 26, 1933 Dec. 07, 2016 Norma Dickson Harper, of Lake Oswego and Charbonneau, died in her home, of natural causes Dec. 7, 2016. She was 83 years old. Norma is survived by her children, Thomas Harper (Catherine) of Hillsboro, Stephany Mo (Stanley) of Portland, and Heather King (Todd) of Vancouver, Wash.; her three grandchildren, Andrew King, Alexandra Mo, and Morgan King; her brother, Douglas Dickson of Yorkville, Ill.; and her sister, Doris Fenske of Phoenix, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Beggs of Gainsville, Fla.; her brother, John Dickson of Big Rock, Ill.; her parents, Alice Ament and Ivan Dickson, DMD of Yorkville, Ill. Norma was born Aug. 26, 1933 in Yorkville, Ill., to Ivan Dickson, DMD and Alice Ament. After graduating from Yorkville High School in 1950 Norma moved to Denver, with her best friend. In Denver, Norma took a job as an administrative assistant and part time model for a local department store. Norma married Don Harper in 1957 after 13 dates and remained married for 30 years and three children. Norma dedicated her life to helping children. Norma was a "professional volunteer" until her 80's in Portland and Lake Oswego. Norma was proud of her commitment to the community and her volunteer work. Norma's volunteer works usually lead her to President role. Norma volunteered at such organizations as RIO, Perry Center for Children, Elementary and High School PTA, Oregon Symphony, Christie School, and Assistance League of Portland. In addition to endless hours of volunteering, Norma always remained dedicated to her family. Norma enjoyed cooking, playing bridge, entertaining, traveling, decorating her home and gardening. Norma will be remembered for her graciousness, leadership, friendship, smile and love. A celebration of life will be planned for a future date.
