Norma Jean Cox
Norma Jean Cox Norma Jean (Ware) Cox passed away February 14, 2017. Norma was born in Sulphur, Oklahoma on August 27, 1924. Preceding her in death were her parents, Perry Ware in 1977 and Margarette (Gette) Ware in 1969, her sister, Ruie LaVerne Wilson, in 2012, and her brother-in-law Mack Wilson in 2013. She was married on October 7, 1958 in Sulphur, Oklahoma to Donald A Cox. Norma and Donald lived in St. Louis, Mo for 27 years before moving to Springfield in 1985. She worked as a secretary for a number of years, retiring in 1982 from American Air Filter, Defense Products Division, a division of Allis Chalmers. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and was instrumental in the formation of the LEO group. For a number of years she volunteered at her church helping mail out the weekly newsletter and special mailings. She is survived by her husband, Donald, of the home, one nephew, Richard Van Wilson and wife Jody of Carbondale, Colorado, Godson George Davis of Springfield, MO. A visitation will be on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 6 pm to 8 pm in Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Services will be Friday, February 17, 2017 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
