In memory of
Noema Pura Whitaker, nee Treviño went to dance with the angels on January 8, 2017. She was born October 1, 1928. Noema will be remembered for her love of God and service to others. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and supported the Guadalupana Society for many years. She was also involved with the Raymond Telles and Father Martinez Senior Centers where she served in many capacities, including being crowned Valentine Queen. Among her many acitivities, she danced in the senior folklorico dance group and enjoyed the company of her many friends. She is predeceased by her grandson, Maxie Soto Jr. Noema is survived by her husband of 67 years, James Whitaker; son, James Whitaker (Maricela); daughters, Blanca Soto (Max), Mickey Vigil (Joe), Patsy Whitaker, Alvessa Gonzalez (Rafael), Ana Solis (Rudy) and Joy Esparza (Ismael); 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and one on the way. Serving as pallbearers are Chris Orquiz, Roman Gonzalez, Sonny Whitaker, Joshua Merchant, Andy Solis, Rudy Solis, Max Soto and Alegria Vertacnick. Heartfelt thanks go to Maricela Whitaker and Gloria Wong for their loving care of our mother. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Mt. Carmel Funeral Home with Rosary at 7:00pm. Funeral mass will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 1:00pm at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
