Nicholas "Nick" Joseph Sportini, 84, of Ormond Beach, FL, died on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Nick was born on April 24, 1932 in Bridgeport, CT. As a young man he served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He then went on to earn his Engineering Degree at the University of Connecticut. Nick worked for RCA and other engineering firms and was involved in the early warning ballistic system and over saw the installation of the system in foreign and domestic sites but the highlight of his career was being the lead project engineer for the Ranger Moon Probe for NASA. In 1990 he decided he wanted to get into real estate and worked for ITT as one of their leading salesman for 10 years. In 1992 he moved to Florida from Trumbull, CT. Nick was an avid poker player and golfer. He was preceded in death by his son, Brad Sportini in 2007. Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Geri; sons, Michael (Sheila) Sportini and Gary Giordano; daughter, Gail (Dean) Dileo; sister, Lois Heiden; grandchildren, Matthew, Alexandra, Connor, Alexa and Dana.
