Prosser, Nelda Born in 1946 near Five Points, Tennessee, Nelda was a farm girl at heart who nevertheless thrived in the big city of Phoenix, where she passed away March 18, 2017. Nelda's God-centered rural roots served her well in all her many endeavors. In work, she excelled as a New York Life insurance agent. As a community leader, she served with distinction as the president and long-term board member of Lura Turner Homes for Adults with Developmental Disabilities. As a servant of Christ, she was an inspiring leader in the Walk to Emmaus retreat movement, United Methodist single adult ministries and as Bible teacher to the Christian Ambassadors, a class for adults with special needs. As a wife, she brought untold joy to Don Townsend, her husband of 30 years. As a mother and grandmom, she showered love and encouragement on son Robert and wife Jennifer and grandsons Andrew and Ethan as well as on niece Courtney and husband Rod Lenz and their children: Ray, Chloe and Evan. As a sister-in-law, she was especially devoted to Don's sister, Carol. Nelda was predeceased by her parents, William and Dessie Graves and siblings Dora and Frances. She is survived by siblings Claude, Jimmie and Ruby and their families. A celebration of Nelda's life is 10 a.m., April 22, Central United Methodist, 1875 N. Central Ave., Phx.
