Naomi Fay Landess, age 91, was born June 26, 1925 in Birdseye, Indiana. She was called to her heavenly home on February 10, 2017.
Sister Landess was preceded in death by her parents; Ollie and Nova King, brothers; Ivan King and Wayne Dean King, and sisters; Jewel Hollen and Janis King.
She is survived by her son Richard Errol Landess, daughter Carolyn Marie Saltzman, brother Everett King, six grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
Sister Landess was better known as "Memaw" or "Grandma." She was sweet, loving and caring. Her children Carolyn and Dick can attest that she had the "patience of a saint" and never lost her temper. Always supportive and encouraging to everyone, as long as mom was around we knew everything was going to be ok.
Naomi was a professional seamstress until her retirement from Foley's. Naomi taught Sunday school for over 20 years at her home church, The Bible Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. She loved taking the youth of her church to Disney World. She was an active member of Faith Tabernacle until her death.
Memaw loved to cook and made the best banana cream pie. She enjoyed travel and adventure. A little car with a stick-shift transmission, a full tank of gas and a passenger of any kind was all she needed. The trip was just as important to her as the destination and she would often venture down any un-named un-paved road just to see where it ended. She visited both coastlines, national parks throughout the United States, and many places in-between. Grandma also loved to travel to her homestead in Birdseye, Indiana to visit her son Dick at their family cabin. The highlight of all of her trips was to Ireland with her daughter Carolyn and grandson David.
Memaw was a beautiful soul who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
