SKAVISH NANCY PINKERTON On Monday, October 10, 2016, Nancy Pinkerton Skavish, age 80, of Valencia. Beloved wife of the late Martin Grant Skavish, Jr.; mother of Elizabeth Ann (Michael Rubenstein) Skavish of Brookline, MA, Martin Grant (Kristine) Skavish, III of Littleton, CO, and Peter Lyle (Natalia) Skavish of Richmond, TX; sister of the late Sally Backner; grandmother of Daniel Nicholas and Talia Rose Rubenstein, Aaron Paul Skavish, and Anna Olivia and Luke Alexander Skavish. Nancy's vibrancy, love and caring were deeply felt by her family, treasured friends, and the patients in her care during her nursing career at Passavant Hospital. She was devoted to the students whom she tutored at Up for Reading. Nancy was a founding member of St. Brendan's Episcopal Church in Franklin Park and devoted much of her life to its ministry. She served for many years as music director, establishing adult and children's choirs as well as a chime choir which she took to other churches and community gatherings. She especially loved working with the children, teaching them hymns, using instruments from other cultures, and producing amazingly colorful pageants. Her loss will be deeply felt by her family and all those who knew her. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Brendan's Episcopal Church, 2365 McAleer Road, Sewickley, PA 15143. Contributions in Nancy's memory may be made to St. Brendan's.
