In memory of
Nancy Cornelison Roberts
Nancy Cornelison Roberts, 87, of Panama City, Florida, passed away on January 12th, 2017. Nancy was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 25, 1929 to Annabel Rogers Cornelison and Ralph Wilbur Cornelison. A graduate of Macalester College, she married Wilbur Cleveland Roberts in 1951 and moved to Lynn Haven FL where she quickly became an active member of the community. She resided the remainder of her life in Bay County, Florida where they raised their five children. Nancy and her husband helped found and were active in the local Unitarian Universalist fellowship, the local Audubon Society, and she later was instrumental in the founding of the local National Organization for Women. In her desire to make the community better, she also served as a regular volunteer at regional and local boards for the Girl Scouts, the United Way, and the Red Cross. Though she had many interests in local civic organizations, and she was an avid naturalist, bird watcher, and bridge player, her growing passion became genealogy. She helped establish the Genealogy Society of Bay County and taught many classes there. Her extensive research on her own family tree was compiled into a published book. Her love of genealogy coupled well with her love of people and travel. Nancy's family was often confounded by her seemingly spur-of-the-moment cross-country trips, always with the excuse of more genealogy research; yet, this wanderlust survives in many of her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as her husband. Nancy is survived by her children, Ralph Roberts (Anne), and Douglas Roberts (Laura) both of Tallahassee, Carl Roberts, Catherine Mitchell (Donald), and Helen Holmes (Tom) of Panama City; her grandchildren, Kristy, Sara, Ashley, Robert, Carolyn, Anna, Jonathan, and David; her eight great-grandsons; and her three sisters, Kathryn Krueger, Isabel Hoe, and Margaret Robbins. These grieving loved ones best remember her as an ever-helpful, friendly, and forthright woman who rarely, if ever, had an unkind thing to say about anyone. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 16th at Wilson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 15th at Wilson Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until 4:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Nancy's memory to either the Bay County Conservancy ( ) or the Nature Conservancy ( ).
