Nancy K. Brown, 80 was born on June 7, 1936 in Rincon NM and passed away on December 31, 2016. Nancy was the only child of Daniel Kittinger and Grace Rutledge Kittinger but she never felt like an only child. Nancy grew up with her cousins, Billy, EJ, Jack, and Bobby and always considered them her brothers, just as they considered her a sister. She married the love of her life, Ted Alton Brown the day she turned 17 and moved seven miles up the Rio Grande River to begin a farming career. After Nancy married Ted she also gained a sister, Ted's sister Geraldine (Deanie) became the sister she never had. Ted and Nancy had two daughters Althea and Danette. Nancy handled the books for the farm but there was not a piece of equipment she could not operate. Nancy was very talented, she crocheted, knitted, sewed, and made the most beautiful hand crafts! She was also an avid water skier and spent many enjoyable summers on Caballo Lake. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Ted Brown, her parents Daniel and Grace Kittinger, and her cousin Billy Dan Lansford. After the loss of her husband, her dear friend Alma Franzoy-Capron and her husband Tom Capron opened their home to her. Nancy was able to stay in her beloved Hatch Valley an additional six months until the progression of her dementia made it nessary to move to a care facility closer to her daughter and son-in-law. Nancy is survied by her daughters Althea Brown and Danette B. Clark and husband Bill, Granddaughters Tiffany Gomez, Tricia Franchville and her husband James, Laura Kuskil and her husband Alan and great grandchildren Jake Gomez, Josh Gomez, Chloe Franchville, Mia Franchville, and Lily Franchville. Cousins EJ Lansford, James (Jack) Lansford, Robert and his wife Mary. Sister-in-law Deanie James and her husband Robert. Brother-in-law's Donald Brown and his wife Waverly and Jerry Brown and his wife Dalia as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Hatch, NM on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Hatch or to the Alzheimer's Association or your favorite charity.
