Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Ave., Roseland, N.J. 07068. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at 12 noon at Notre Dame Church, 359 Central Ave., North Caldwell, N.J. Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Myrtle, more affectionately referred to as "Nana" or "Auntie Birdie," had a thriving career as a seamstress in Jamaica before deciding to relocate to Newark in 1972. Prior to her retirement, Myrtle, an extremely hard worker, tried her hand at several different careers but ultimately received the most enjoyment from being a nurse's aide. Passionate about education and traveling, she used any spare time to see the world and encouraged her children to do the same. In more recent years, her passion turned to spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren. Surviving are her beloved daughters, Lisa McDonald and her husband, Rodney; Antoinette Parkinson-Lubold and her husband, Michael; and Bobby Parkinson-Morrello and her husband, Robert; cherished grandchildren, Kimarra, Jarrytt, Ryder, Sebi, Logan, Montana, Romey, and Dash; and her loving sisters, Carol Allen and her husband, Theodore; and Cathleta Linton and her husband, Renford; and a host of other very dear family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at StJude.org . Condolences and memories may be shared at farmerfuneral.com .
