GRAHAM - Myra Ann Dale Creech of the Cedar Cliff community, age 92, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017 at home per her wish. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Leo Edison Creech and her 5 children, Schotsi AndreaLee Creech Ellington (Michael Ellington), Walter Jay Creech (Ann Dismuke Creech), Elizabeth Creech Deterding (James Deterding), Renata Creech Tripp, and Alan Dale Creech (Darlene Kline Creech) along with 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a brother Rufus J. Dale. Myra was born July 23, 1924 in Yancey County, NC to Rufus Decatur Dale and Elsie Pyatt Dale. A 1941 graduate of Micaville High School, Myra went on to obtain a Diploma in Nursing in 1946 from Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Banner Elk, NC under the auspices of the Nurse Cadet Corp in World War II. She continued her post-graduate education in obstetrical nursing at Maryland Woman's Hospital in Baltimore MD. After marriage to Leo August 5, 1950 in Lawton OK, Myra traveled the United States and Europe following her husband's military career, raising their 5 children and continuing to practice nursing in a variety of military hospitals. After her husband's retirement from the Army Corp of Engineers, Myra worked for over 25 years at Alamance County Hospital as an obstetrical nurse in the Labor and Delivery department. Some of her proudest moments were being present and participating in the delivery of many of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family members. Myra was also an avid and accomplished seamstress. Myra's legacy lives on in her extended family which includes many nurses, physicians, dentists, educators, allied health professionals, musicians, artists, and military personnel who are proud to have had such a loving and inspiring role model. She will be missed but her spirit, her love of family, and her love of nursing will not be forgotten. Visitation will be held at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham, NC on Easter Sunday, April 16th , 2017, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A celebration of Myra's life will be held at Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church, Monday, April 17th , 2017 at 12 p.m. Memorials can be made to The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565 or Shriners Hospital for Children 2900 North Rocky Point Drive, Tampa Florida 33607.
