Muriel A. McDonald Hyde Park - Muriel A. McDonald, a life-long Hyde Park and Poughkeepsie resident, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at ArchCare at Ferncliff Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Rhinebeck. She was 92. Born in Poughkeepsie on August 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Delbert and Alice Pascoe Phillips. Muriel graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and Krissler Business Institute. She was the co-owner of the Taconic Spirits Shoppe in Hopewell Junction, with her husband, M. Arthur McDonald. Mr. McDonald predeceased her on September 14, 1995. Previously, she was the office manager for the Toy House of the Hudson Valley/ Book and Record Shops. Muriel and Art were members of the Poughkeepsie Elk's Lodge. She also was a supporter of the Vagabond Drum Corps when her children were members. She is survived by her son, Douglas Depew and wife, Kathie, of Hyde Park; daughter, Susan Depew and husband, Michael Hackett, of Hyde Park; grandchildren: Roy, Philip, and Peter Depew, Diamond Perry, Erica Shaw and husband, Michael, and Tiffany Robinson-Bonds and husband, Bryant; and great-grandchildren, Angelina Ramos and Gabriella Shaw. She is also survived by Art's children, Bruce and Keith McDonald; and grandson, Matt McDonald. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, George Phillips; and Art's son, Gary. She was also predeceased by her former husband, Harold "Mickey" Depew. Visitation will be from 10 to 11am, Friday, February 17th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. Services will be at 11 am, following the visitation. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
