Montress Strickland Causey, 77, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born in Horry County, S.C. the daughter of the late Guthrie and Estus Buffkin Strickland. Mrs. Causey was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A woman of great faith, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Salisbury. She was an exceptional pianist and spent many hours playing for her enjoyment. Mrs. Causey was predeceased, in addition to her parents, by three brothers, Marvin Strickland, Elias Strickland and Almond Strickland; and a sister, Balzora Hayes. She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, John Harold Causey of Salisbury; two sons, Timothy F. Causey of Rockwell and Jon Travis Causey of Salisbury; a daughter, Lisa C. (Tim) Walters of Salisbury; two sisters, Elizabeth (Harvey) Price of Sumter, S.C. and Doris (James) Shelley of Creedmore; four grandchildren, Carrie Causey Liapis, Therron Causey, Dustin Walters and Jacob Causey; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Goodman, Stefano Liapis, George Liapis and Ryker Causey. Service & Visitation: A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at Riverside Cemetery in Nichols, S.C. directed by Meares Funeral Home of Mullins, S.C. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
