Mildred Dorman Raich Germantown, TN Mildred Dorman Raich, 95, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, died peacefully Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Memphis Jewish Home. Lovingly known as Midge, she was the widow of Henry Raich, to whom she was married for 51 years. Born in Hoboken, NJ, on October 15, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Louis L. and Bella Dorman. She was preceded in death by a sister, Selma Greenberg, and a son, Robert Raich. She is survived by a son, Dr. Allen (Becky) Raich of Germantown, TN, and 3 grandchildren, Rachel (Paul) Habegger of Chattanooga, TN, Matthew Raich of Los Angeles, CA, and Leah Raich of Memphis. Midge graduated from Glassboro State Teacher's College and taught second grade in the Cherry Hill public school system for many years. She was named Outstanding Elementary School Teacher in 1972. She was a long-time member of Temple Emanuel in Cherry Hill, NJ. Midge was actively involved in sisterhood and the Senior Group, as well as the local chapter of Hadassah. Through her synagogue, she taught English to Soviet Jewish immigrants and conducted services with her husband for special needs residents at the Bancroft School in Haddonfield, NJ. Midge loved the arts and regularly attended the symphony, opera, ballet, theater and museums with friends. She was an accomplished watercolor artist and her walls were decorated with her still-life paintings. She was well traveled, including a year living in Normandy with her husband in the late 1960s. An avid reader, she was a member of several book clubs and discussion groups. In her golden years, she also became a passionate fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. Midge was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. As the family matron, she was admired and adored by her nieces and nephews. Family and friends will remember Midge for her graciousness and her positive outlook on life. Funeral services were held Friday, April 7 at Platt Memorial Chapels in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, with burial in New Montefiore Cemetery in Pinelawn, NY.
