Apr 18, 1945 - Oct 11, 2016 Richard Michael Kellum (71) died peacefully on October 11 after a five year battle with central nervous system vasculitis. He was predeceased by his mother, Marguerite Laird Kellum. Mike grew up in Concord, graduated from the University of Montevallo, and earned a Master's from UAB. He was the Director of Physical Therapy at UAB Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 1995. He is survived by his wife, Kay Kellum; his children, Amy Cooper (Matt); Michael Kellum (Jami); Katharyn Lowry (John); and his grandchildren, Oskar and Clara Cooper; Connor and Parker Kellum; and Louis Lowry. Mike was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, an avid reader, a lover of history, a loyal member of All Saints' Episcopal Church for over 40 years, a faithful choir member, and a gentle soul. His body is being donated to science in an effort to find a cure for CNS vasculitis. Visitation will be held at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Homewood on Friday, October 14, at 10:00, followed by a dedication service at 11:00.
