MUIR Michael Convey, age 50, of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of North Bergen New Jersey, and the youngest son of Constance and Thomas Muir of Palisades Park, NJ, died peacefully on March 10 surrounded by his loving family, wife Jill, son Daniel, and daughter Madison. He also leaves behind his two brothers, Tim, of Atlanta, Georgia and Tom and his wife Christine and son Tommy of Leonia, NJ, other family members, as well as many, many close friends. Michael was a 1984 graduate of North Bergen High School where he played Varsity Basketball, Tennis, and served as President of the Student Government. He was a graduate of the University of Las Vegas, Nevada, and after graduation he entered the Hospitality Industry. He was Regional Director of Franchise Sales at Holiday Inns in Los Angeles, California; Senior Vice President of Franchise Sales and Development at Wyndham Worldwide; and Vice President of Franchise Sales and Development at Best Western International in Phoenix, Arizona. He successfully concluded his career at Live Oak Bank, based in Atlanta, as Executive Vice President of Hotel Banking. He received many accolades during his career and was recently honored to receive the 2016 Hospitality Industry Leader of the year Award, held at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He was a prominent motivational speaker around the country, mentor to his hotel trainees, and leader in the hotel industry. Along the way, he impacted the lives of many people and made lifetime friends. He was a family man first and foremost, and volunteered his time coaching youth football, baseball, and basketball.
