Michael Robert Morris AGE: 27 • Forked River Michael Robert Morris, 27, of Forked River passed away on September 28. He was born in Neptune and raised in Forked River. Michael graduated from Lacey Township High School in 2007. He earned bachelors degrees from Lafayette College in Music (2011) and Biochemistry (2012.) Michael was a talented musician; composing music and playing the bass and the piano. He enjoyed playing music with friends and his band mates of Red Krovvy whether it be in someone's garage, backyard, or the stage of the Stone Pony. He expanded his musical skills by participating in the percussion and jazz ensembles while at Lafayette. Michael had a passion for traveling and exploring the world. He studied abroad in one of his favorite places, Italy, while a student at Lafayette. He traveled to Europe several times, climbing around in the ancient ruins in Greece and Italy, racing up the Eiffel Tower in the rain, viewing with awe the Sistine Chapel, getting chased from the Vatican, exploring Berlin via bicycle and zip lining in the Swiss Alps. Michael loved nature and outdoor activities including hiking, cycling and rock climbing. He communed with nature daily through walks and bike rides through the Pine Barrens. Michael enjoyed martial arts, studying jiu jitsu and earning a black belt in taekwondo. He treasured his pet bird, Skyler, who was his lifelong best friend. Most recently, Michael worked as an environmental chemist. Michael was adored by his family. He is survived by his father, Karl Morris, his mother and her companion, Kara Morris and David Mancinelli, his sister Alyssa Morris, his grandparents William and Patricia Nagle, his aunts and uncles, Lyn and Bill Maxwell, and Kimberly and David Ball and his cousins Adam, Preston and Kayla Maxwell and Alex and Kevin Ball as well as numerous great aunts and uncles, extended family, and close friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Michael at the Lacey Township Community Hall, 101 Main St. Forked River on Saturday 10/22/16 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree in Michael's memory through alivingtribute.org .
