Michael J. Gittings, 86, of Hellertown, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at St. Luke's, Fountain Hill. He is the husband of Mary A. (Anthony) Gittings. Michael was born in Bethlehem on March 30, 1930 to the late Michael and Edna (Gorick) Gittings. He worked in the Blast Furnace as a Slagger at the Bethlehem Steel for several years. He had also owned and operated a trucking Co. for many years until his retirement. He is a member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus RC Church, Hellertown. Michael served our country honorably in the US Army during 2 tours of service. He was a recipient of Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars and UN Service Medal. Survivors: In additional to his wife of 66 years; children: Sharon A. (Gregory J. ) Stauffer, Michael J. Jr. and Roseann M. (Gary T.) Steffin all of Hellertown; 3 grandchildren: Ryan Stauffer, Serena Calario, Megan Zagwoski & 5 great grandchildren. Predeceased by siblings. Services: Family and friends are invited to call 12 noon to 1 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. 326 Main Street Hellertown.
