1962 ~ 2017 Our loving father, Michael David Calvin, 55, passed away the evening of Sunday, April 2nd, 2017, at his home after a hard-fought, prolonged battle with several serious and chronic illnesses. Mike was born February 13, 1962, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Robert and Nancy Calvin. A compassionate and caring son, brother, and father, he was always quick to offer help or listen to your troubles. Mike was never one to judge, but a sensitive and consistently loving individual. He was always upbeat, positive, and ready for any challenge. Dad dedicated as much time as he could to his family; it was what he lived for. Even as his health suffered, he was always there to help. He loved traveling and was always looking forward to his next journey. Dad enjoyed camping under the stars, fishing, hiking in the mountains, watching movies, and reading Louis L'Amour and Clive Cussler adventure novels. He valued spending time with loved ones, laughing and telling stories or making plans for the future. Dad also had many fond memories of his coworkers, friends, and extended family. Mike leaves his two children, daughter Alyx Calvin and son Michael Brandon Calvin; his father Robert Calvin; and his two sisters, Michelle Jorgensen, and Carmelle Calvin. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Nancy Calvin. An open house remembrance and celebration of Mike's life will be held at Tracy Aviary's Chase Mill (589 E 1300 S Salt Lake City) on April 24th, 2017 from 6-8 pm, with a memorial service at 7 pm. Please come share your memories of Mike with his friends and family. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the National Park Foundation in his memory.
