Ms. Estess was born September 21, 1923 to Walter A. Ravencraft and Bonnie Eva Smith Ravencraft. She passed away peacefully in Baytown, TX, October 10, 2016 at the Cedar Bayou Nursing Home and Rehabilitation. Ms. Estess was a graduate of Liberty High School, class of 1942. She graduated from Spencer Business School in Baton Rouge, LA and returned to teach night classes part time. She worked at Stone and Webster Engineering Firm in Baton Rouge, retired from the East Baton Rouge Fire Department after twenty-five years of service. She also worked part-time and retired from Sears. Ms. Estess was married to Raymond M. Estess for fifty years and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She gave her heart to the Lord at an early age at Bethel Baptist Church, Liberty, MS and loved Him during her life time. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law Eleanor R. Swayze Moses and Charles Moses of Baytown, TX, one son Ray Edward Estess, Sr. and wife Charmion of Prairieville, LA. Grandchildren: Susan and husband Paul Griggs, of Denham Springs, LA, Rachel and husband Paul Hurtevant, of Baton Rouge LA, Jeff and wife Claudia Swayze of Vernon, WA, and Ryan Swayze of Vancouver, WA, Shannon Means and husband Bill, Tracy Colvenback, Amanda Martinez and husband Donny and Ray Edward Estess, Jr. Great- Grandchildren Ashton, Austin, Addy and Ary Griggs, Ciara and husband Chase Nelson, Anthony Hurtevant, Chris Lee and Jewel Swayze, Lydia and Helen Swayze. One Great-Great- Grandchild, Cameron Elle Nelson. Pallbearers; Jeff Swayze, Paul Griggs, Austin Griggs, Jordan Imhoff, Jessie Tullos, and Charles Moses. Ms. Estess was proceeded in death by her parents, Raymond Estess, three sisters; Gladys Ravencraft Hawkins, Hazel Ravencraft Smiley, and Wilma Ravencraft Durbin. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016. Viewing will be at 12:30 PM, at the Graveside. Graveside service will start at 1:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Cemetery near Liberty, MS. Pastor Dusty Rhodes will officiate the service. In lieu of Flowers you may make a donation to the Alzheimers Foundation in Mother's name or Charity of your choice.
