Melvin Stauffer Good, age 83, of Canton, Pa., went to be with his Lord on Monday, Oct. 17, 2016. He was born May 8, 1933 in Lancaster, Pa. He married Irene Martin on April 20, 1957. Mel was a dairy farmer all of his life and also a pastor at Wheelerville Mennonite Church. Mel loved people, family, friends and those who needed a second chance. He had a lifelong passion to connect people with Jesus. Melvin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Irene Good; and his four sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Faye Good of Canton, Pa., Clair and Beth Good, Africa, Clifford and Cheryl Good, Muncy, Pa., and Jeff and Denise Good, East Berlin, Pa. Mel also had 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Eunice Ndgenda was his special caregiver for the last three years. He was predeceased by his sister, Marian (Richard) Martin in December 2015. Visitation hours are from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at North Street Community Church, 177 North Street, Canton, Pa. There will be a graveside committal service at 9 a.m. Saturday at the East Canton Cemetery. There will be visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the North Street Community Church, followed by a celebration of Melvin's life at 11 a.m. at the same place. There will be a time of visitation and sharing after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Beginnings Rehab Ministry, 8607 Route 414, Canton, PA 17724.
