Melvin Eddings Dec. 01, 1954 - Oct. 04, 2016 CASSOPOLIS - Melvin Eddings, 61 years old of Scottsdale, AZ, formerly of Cassopolis, passed to his rest Oct. 4, 2016 in Scottsdale as the result of an auto accident earlier this month. He was born Dec. 1, 1954 in Chicago, the son of Leo Alexander and Ruby L. (Johnson) Eddings and had lived in Cassopolis for several years. He was diligent in his work, serving in the United States Navy in the Viet Nam War. He was employed in the Medical field as a Behavioral Health Technician for over 15 years. Melvin is survived by his mother, Ruby Eddings of Vandalia, his daughter Latonya Wheeler of Phoenix, three grandchildren; Antonio Williams, Miesha Wheeler and Jason Powers, Jr. There are many aunts, uncles and cousins that will miss him as well as all of his friends. Family who have passed are his father, Leo and his brothers Stanley and Jerry. Family and friends may gather on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the Calvin Center Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 19088 Brownsville Rd., Cassopolis. The Service of Remembrance will begin at 11:00 AM with Pastor Farai Nhiwatiwa, minister of the church, assisted by Elder Norman Usher and Elder Donel Wilmberly. Burial will be on Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. Meet on the entrance drive at 10:00 AM, Monday for a Military Escort to the Honors Pavilion where the United States Navy will give the military final rites. Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, a friend of the Eddings family.
