May 5, 1939 - October 4, 2016 On October 4, 2016, Melinda Arredondo passed away in peace with family by her side. Melinda was born in Los Angeles, CA., on May 5, 1939 to Nydia Annucci and Emil Gutierrez. She attended Thomas Starr King Jr High and John Marshall High School. She went to work for VONS Grocery Inc., where she was a bookkeeper for 29 years before retiring. Melinda was an avid outdoors enthusiast prior to being diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. Throughout her lifetime the many activities she enjoyed were hiking, skiing (she was a fanatical skier!), and camping. she was a hike leader in the Sierra Club and liked to hike the Placerita Canyon Los Pinetos and the canyon trails. She hiked the mountaineers Trail to the summit of Mt. Whitney, the summit of White Mt. and Half Dome in Yosemite and found great joy in visiting many of America's National Parks. Melinda is survived by her children Lorraine Arredondo Imperial, Annette Arredondo, and Kurt Arredondo. Grandchildren, Bernadette Torres, Sierra Imperial, and Austin Arredondo, and along with many extended family, VONS, hiking and running friends. She was truly a gentle soul and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
