MELDA DILLON WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — Melda Marie Dillon, 71 of Williamson, W.Va., passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016, at St. Mary's Medical Center at Huntington, W.Va. Born May 17, 1945, at Red Jacket, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Tom and Easter Sullivan Scott. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Smith; two sisters, Lois Schaffer and Bobbi Ann Hayes, and one brother, Dan Scott. Melda was a Head Start teacher for Blackberry Elementary School for 27 years and a member of the Toler Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Donald Dillon; her children: Robbie (Kelly) Smith of Ransom, Ky., Robin (Scott) Hatfield of Canada, Ky., Shelly (Mark) King of Lexington, Ky. and Brett (Bethany) Smith of Huntington; step-children: Ethel Grace (Roger) Russell and Donald Dewayne (Sonya) Dillon, all of Rawl, W.Va.; brother, Tom Scott of Piqua, Ohio; sister, Rosa Kinsella of Piqua; grandchildren: Joshua Hicks Smith, Hayley Paige (Tyler) Ferrell, Alexis Shae (Michael) Whitt, Scott Andrew Hatfield Jr., Brandon King, Lakyn King and Robert Isaac King; great-grandchildren: Piper Rae Whitt and Easton Brett Smith; step-grandchildren: Elizabeth Ann (Noah) Davis, Melissa Dawn (Matt) Smith, Shae Dillon and RaeAnna (Cory) Charles; step-great-grandchildren: Ariona Smith, Addison Brooklyn Davis, David Michael Whitt and Grayson Eli Whitt; she was expecting two more great-grandchildren to be born very soon, Liam Smith and Wyatt Ferrell; she was also survived by a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 21, at Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church with Roger Mullins and Johnny Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery at Ransom. Pallbearers will be Joshua Smith, Brandon King, Andrew Hatfield, Isaac King, Mark King and Scott Hatfield. Visitation will begin after 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Toler Freewill Baptist Church with special services both nights at 7 p.m. Online condolences at www.rerogersfh.com R.E.
