Maxine Killingsworth, retired educator, entered rest Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016. Celebration of life: 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Hermon Baptist Church, 4150 E. Rosedale. Burial: Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at historic Baker Funeral Home. Wake: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Maxine was born April 29, 1935, in Fort Worth. She earned a bachelor of science degree from Bethune-Cookman College and a masters in education from Prairie View A & M College. She also was certified as a counselor and teacher of emotionally disturbed children. She taught for 40 years in FWISD. She held Life Membership in the Bethune-Cookman Alumni Association, National Education Association, Texas State Teachers Association, Council for Exceptional Children and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. A passionate musician, she taught private piano lessons and was head musician at Mount Hermon Baptist Church. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Killingsworth Jr. Survivors: Sisters, Cynthia Oliver Carter(James ) and Carmen Oliver Williamson(Percy); nephews, Leandre Williams, Keith RObertson, Fredrick O'Brient, Saladin O'Brient, Samuel Oliver Jr., James Carter Jr. D'Artan Williamson, Percy Williamson II and Daniel A. Williamson; several generations of other family members; Delta Sigma Theta sorority; Bethune-Cookman Alumni; and many former students and friends.
