Maureen Catherine Harron Maus, OFS, was called by the Lord on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, in Wilmington, N.C., at the age of 80. She passed peacefully in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Maureen is survived by her daughters, Maureen T. Biessener and Jennifer M. Aro, M.D.; grandchildren, Mirjana Teressa Aro, Meghan E. Aro and Liam J. Aro; and great-grandchild, Kyrin A. Aro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis M. Maus, DDS; siblings, Robert Harron and Carolee Arzente; mother, Martha M. Wright; and father, Robert E. Harron. Maureen was born April 16, 1936, in Larksville, and graduated from Kingston High School in 1954. Maureen had a full life. She enjoyed music, singing and dancing. She loved people and was genuinely generous with her time, prayers and possessions. Maureen was professed into the Ordo Franciscanus Saecularis on Jan. 29, 2015. She was a Sacristan and Eucharistic minister at St. Stanislaus Church in Castle Hayne, N.C., regularly taking communion to homebound parishioners. Maureen regarded this service as a "great honor and privilege" and it brought her immense joy. A Funeral Mass was held in St. Stanislaus Church in Castle Hayne, N.C., on Oct. 18, with the Rev. Roger Malonda Nyimi presiding. Maureen will be laid to rest in St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Cemetery, Pringle, alongside her parents and siblings. There will be a short graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Ignatius Cemetery. All are welcome. She will be dearly missed. Condolences may be sent at maher-collins.com .
