of Bay Village, Ohio passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016, at the age of 92. Lou was born to parents William and Josephine Angelo on January 26, 1924, in Lakewood, Ohio. She was the youngest of two children and attended Lakewood High School. Being a woman before her time, Lou was driven to pursue a self-funded education at The Ohio State University. There, she earned a BA in Accounting as the only female in most of her classes. Later, Lou earned a Master's degree in Education from Case Western Reserve University. While beginning her career as an accountant, Lou later chose a teaching position within the Cleveland Public Schools to permit more time with her children. Lou had the unique gift of modeling ambition, discipline, work ethic, and creativity for her students. Through a compassionate spirit, courage, and determination, Lou helped numerous underprivileged children overcome many immense obstacles. Lou raised three children, sharing many of her passions in life, including her Italian heritage, Alma mater, love for nature, and most importantly, love for family! Lou's adventurous spirit could be seen through a variety of hobbies including horseback riding, gardening, and even flying airplanes. Lou is survived by her daughter, Christie Murphy, son-in-law Jim Murphy, and grandchildren Danny, Caitlin and Michael; her son, Rick Hiles, daughter-in-law Renee Hiles, and grandchildren Ricky and Olivia; her daughter, Kim Welker, son-in-law Alex Welker, and grandchildren Alissa and Emily. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Josephine Angelo and her brother, Ernest Angelo. During the weeks before her passing, Lou was surrounded by all of her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren. She was cared for by the kind, compassionate staff at the Ames Family Hospice House. Lou's family is forever grateful to this outstanding organization and requests that tribute donations be made in her honor to Hospice of the Western Reserve ( Hospicewr.org ). Services - private.
