In memory of
MARY C. WILSON
MARY C. WILSON 1922- 2017 Mary C. Wilson died peacefully in her sleep, hours after what would be the last visit from her four children on March 21, 2017. She was born in Grandview-on-Hudson, NY on Nov. 8, 1922. Mary graduated from Wheaton College and, after a brief career with an executive search firm in NY City, married Edward (Ted) Wilson II on Feb. 7, 1948. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of more than 60 years, Ted, in 2008. She is survived by her four children: Susan Bailey, Ann Hilbert, Ted Wilson III and Jane Wilson. She is similarly survived by 5 grandchildren: Molly Wilson, Corey Grayson, Katie Wilson, Arthur Hilbert and Zack Grayson, and two great-grandchildren: Tya Hollimon and Price Thompson. Mary resided in Green Valley, AZ for the last 35 years. Previous to that, she had lived in N. Palm Beach, FL., Greenwich, CT., Barrington Hills, IL., and Tarrytown, NY. As a child, Mary summered on Cape Cod, a tradition she continued with her family well into her 80s. Mary was deeply involved in the communities she lived in. She volunteered in local schools, churches, hospitals, cub and girl scouts, and little leagues. Mary was the undisputed and unchallenged CEO of her family. While Mary and Ted formulated and structured their parenting plans and philosophies together, it was Mary who deftly and almost singlehandedly executed those plans. There were many causes Mary felt strongly about. These include: The Audubon Society, Sierra Club, ASPCA and local animal shelters, numerous libraries, the Red Cross and many more. Mary was an accomplished knitter of sweaters, quilter, bridge player and loved to cook. She enjoyed golf and even had a hole-in-one in her seventies. Her humor, wit, calmness in a crisis, toughness, competence, fairness and compassion will be missed by all who knew her. The family is ever grateful to Ann Hilbert, Mary's daughter and caregiver for the past 10 years, and Lucy Mendoza who took care of both Ted and Mary for over 30 years. We would also like to express our appreciation and gratitude to Peppi's House and Carondelet Hospice for their excellent care and support. A memorial service for the immediate family will be held on Cape Cod at a later date. ... Show More
