Mary Elizabeth Williams (Vance), 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, March, 27, 2017 in El Dorado Hills, CA. Mary was a resident of Rancho Cordova, CA since 1955. She is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl Ann (Michael Werner), Linda Susan (Robert White), Pamela Elizabeth (Kenneth Harrison), seven grand-children and numerous extended family in Texas. Mary was born in Belton, TX in 1925 and is the daughter of Claud Morton Vance of Decatur, TX and Lettie Naomi Vance (Greenwood) of Thurman, Iowa. Mary earned her B.A. in Home Economics and taught school in Texas, California, Oregon and Washington. She met and married John D. Williams (of Libertyville, IL) in Pasadena, CA and moved to Rancho Cordova, CA for John's employment at Aerojet General. While raising her children, Mary worked as a substitute teacher and part-time for the State Franchise Tax Board. After her husband passed in 1973, she worked full-time for the State of California until she retired in 1987. Mary enjoyed sewing, painting, gardening and cooking. She also loved to travel and during her early retirement years she traveled abroad and domestically. During her latter retirement years, she spent much time at the local senior center and concentrated on painting and genealogy. Mary's paintings are proudly displayed in each of her daughters' homes today.
