Torsch, 87 DOVER - Mary Edwards Torsch of Dover, passed away, Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Kent General Hospital. She was 87. Mrs. Torsch was born April 26, 1929 in Urbana, Illinois to the late Myron Justin Edwards and Ethel May Edwards. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1950 with a BA in chemistry, Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in 1954, the University of Maryland with a MSN in Community Health Nursing in 1975. Mrs. Torsch taught community Health at Coppin State, Baltimore, Md.; Emory University, Atlanta, Ga.; Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, OK; Towson State University, Towson, Md.; Bowie State University, Bowie, Md.; American University, Washington, D.C.; Columbia Union College, Tacoma Park, Md. and University of Maryland, Baltimore. She and her husband served under the Board of World Missions Presbyterian Church volunteering in Brazil from 1959 -1968 and Rwanda from 1977-1979. She enjoyed plants, going to Orioles baseball games and walking through the park but especially spending time with her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Jack. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edward "Ted" F. Torsch of Dover; children, Virginia M. Torsch of Annandale, Va., Robert F. Torsch of Alnwick, UK and Elizabeth K. Cox of Maysville, KY; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2016 at The Presbyterian Church, 54 S. State Street, Dover.
