Mary Ann (Hess) Sheridan
Sheridan Mary Ann (Hess) Sheridan, age 62, of Pickerington, died Sunday, October 16, 2016 at her residence after a courageous fight with ovarian cancer for over 4 years fueled by her love for her children and grandchildren. She was born September 1, 1954 in Kenton, OH to the late John Bruce and Ella Nora (Tighe) Hess. Mary received her Bachelor's in Fine Arts, Master's in Education, and her Doctorate Degree in Integrated Curriculum. She was an Art Teacher for Pickerington Local Schools for 28 years, teaching at Pickerington Elementary, Tussing Elementary, and Sycamore Creek Elementary. She absolutely loved being an art teacher. Permanent fixtures as a result of students' work can be seen at Pickerington Elementary (ceramic mural), Dental office of Dr. Krystal & Forche (ceramic mural), Pickerington Ponds (ceramic murals), and Tussing Elementary (whale tail, observation pond, Mother Earth time capsule, painted murals, environmental quilted fabric mural), Sycamore Creek Elementary (fabric quilted mural). Mary is survived by her children, Maggie (Travis) Buckley, Michael (Kate) Sheridan, Molly (Joseph) Brunner; brother, John Edward (Nikki) Hess; sister, Katherine McWatters; grandchildren, Griffin and Keegan Buckley, Oscar Ose, Nora and Winnie Sheridan, Suzanne and Mary Brunner; nieces, Laura Gordon, Melissa (Kerry) Nixon and Amy (John) Palmer, Madeline Hess; nephews, Kevin Sheridan, Alan Hess; many dear friends and extended family including Suzanne and Ralph Luffler and the Luffler children, Jeanne Resch, Cheryl Knox and the 'Golden Girls', the 'Tuesday Group', Jackie Bates, Kathy Lannan, Margie Farkas, and so many more. She absolutely treasured her friends. Mary made many professional and personal relationships as a result of artist residencies, grants, projects and other collaborations. Family and friends may visit 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 550 Hill Rd. N., Pickerington, OH 43147, where a service with eulogy by dear friend and fellow artist Steve Bognar (Sundance Film Festival short from Tussing Elementary students called "Picture Day"), will follow at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Tussing Elementary to maintain their Coat Closet and other such funds for students in need.
