Mary A. (Addonizio) Ranno of Shirley; 86 SHIRLEY -- Mary A. (Addonizio) Ranno, 86, of Shirley, formerly of Watertown and Medford, died Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Ayer after a brief illness. Mary Ranno was born in Medford, July 31, 1930, a daughter of Albert and Rose (Oliver) Addonizio Sr. and was a graduate of Medford High School, class of 1948. She resided in Watertown for twenty two years before moving to Shirley in 1973. She leaves her husband of sixty five years, John A. Ranno Sr. and five children: Anita Perry and her husband, Charley of Leominster; John A. Jr. and Debbie Ranno of St. James City, Florida; Richard M. and Gina Ranno of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; Gary J. and Tina Marie Ranno of Leominster; Elisa R. French of Fitchburg; her daughter-in-law, Debra Ranno of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and son-in-law, John L. French of Nashua, NH. Mary also leaves her brother, James Michael Addonizio of Nashua, NH; thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In 2004, she was predeceased by a son, Dana A. J. Ranno of Shirley and in 2013 a granddaughter, Laura E. Ranno, of South Carolina. She was the sister of the late Rose Mitchell of Hollis NH., Albert Addonizio of Kissimmee, FL, Richard Addonizio of Medford, and her twin brother Robert Addonizio of Shirley. Mary was an active and longtime member of St. Anthony's Church in Shirley where she served in many capacities including an acolyte, lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was well known for her articles in the local newspapers, especially in celebration of the holidays. Mary was also active in the Shirley community and took an interest in town politics. For nearly forty years, Mary and John were sole proprietors of the family business. In 1958, they opened Anita's Donuts in Belmont before moving to Ayer and consolidating with Pam's Donuts to become Anita's Donut's and Cakes. Mary retired from the business in 1993 after the closure of Ft. Devens. RANNO -- A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday, October 15th at St. Anthony's Church, 14 Phoenix Street, Shirley.
