Mary M. Meeks
Santa Barbara native and lifelong resident Mary Magdalen Pimentel Meeks passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the age of 87, following a brief illness. She was born on July 22, 1929, in Santa Barbara, one of seven children of Vincent and Soledad Pimentel, growing up on Rose Avenue. Mary attended Santa Barbara public schools and worked for more than 30 years at Applied Magnetics Corporation in Goleta. She was a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Tierra de Oro Parlor. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, MaryAnn and Paul D. Frank, granddaughter Kathryn M. Frank, sister Lucy Wofford, and stepdaughter Diane Schra and family, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters and husband Allen J. Meeks. To her family, she was their Mom, Nana and Nina, who especially loved all of the children and kept everyone in her thoughts and prayers. Those who knew her will miss her kind and caring touch and the impressions she left on many a heart. Her family wishes especially to thank the staff of Serenity House hospice and the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of Santa Barbara for the gentle and loving care she received. Private graveside services and burial will be held at the Santa Barbara Cemetery.
