Mary Anne "Marie" (Trudell) McMahon, 78, of Lansdale, formerly of Gibsonia, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016. Marie was born April 14, 1938, in Lake Placid, N.Y., a daughter of the late Edward and Evelyn (LaMountain) Trudell. She was the beloved wife of the late John "Jack" McMahon; loving mother of Kathleen (Evan) Groat, of Lansdale; dear grandmother of Ian Groat, of Pittsburgh, and Rachael Groat, of Dublin, Ireland; stepmother of Susan (Chuck) Scott; and step-grandmother of Sarah (Paul) Barnette and their children, all of Ohio. Marie is also survived by two brothers, Raymond (Phyllis) Trudell and Eugene (Cyndee) Trudell. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in deat by an infant son, Christopher Baird McMahon; and six siblings, Ethel Lukawecki, Jean Trudell, Estelle Nealer, Edward Trudell, Paula Miller and Eleanor Michalko. Marie grew up in Sewickley, graduated from the former St. Veronica High School and attended California State Teachers' College before marrying Jack in 1958. She was an excellent baker known for her delicious, homemade pies and bread. She was a cook at the former Nursery Tea Room restaurant for 10 years and the Pine Richland School District for 25 years, retiring in 1999. She spent time sewing, knitting and gardening, especially in her abundant flower and vegetable gardens. She was an avid reader and letter-writer, keeping correspondence with many family members and friends from Ireland for decades. She sang in the choir at church and never lost her love for music and the Lord. She was blessed to attend Mass and receive Jesus nearly every day for the past four years she spent at St. Mary Manor, in Lansdale. Many thanks to her family who made special efforts to travel far to visit Marie during her illness including brother, Gene (Cyndee) Trudell; goddaughter and niece, Tiffany (Dan) Casarcia; nephew, Ed (Elaine) Sorace, all of Pittsburgh; and longtime dear neighbors, Jackie (John) Costick, of Maryland. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, in the church with internment to follow Mass in Holy Savior Catholic Cemetery. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. at the old St. Kilian Church, Clark and Cherry streets, Mars, PA 16046.
