Mary S. McElroy
Mary S. (McHoul) McElroy of Weymouth, died January 8, 2017. Mary lived in North Weymouth for 54 years where she was very active in the community. She was the first female president of the North Weymouth Civic Association and planning board; a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and town meeting member. Mary also sat as chairwoman for the Reuse Committee for the South Weymouth Naval Station. Her volunteer work includes 10 years with the Great Books program and Junior Books Leader. Mary was also proud of being one of the longest employees of Burger King. Her dedication to her community earned her the honor of having the Mary McElroy Conference Room in the Weymouth Senior Center named for her. Beloved wife of the late Paul L. McElroy, she was the devoted mother of Paul L. McElroy Jr. and his wife Cathy of Weymouth, and Denise Dow and her husband Bob of Middleboro; cherished Nana of Sam, Greg, Laura and PJ; loving sister of Marie Tidwell of Quincy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Colonial Adult Daycare and Pope Nursing Home staff for the kindness and compassion shown to Mary and her family. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 p.m. in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A - Bicknell Square), North Weymouth. Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. in McDonald Funeral Home. Burial in Old North Cemetery, Weymouth.
