Mary Marney, a longtime resident of Fort Worth, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017, after a brief illness in Martinsburg, Pa.. Interment: She will be laid to rest next to her son, Kenneth, at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017, in Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery, Fort Worth, Texas. Memorials: In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to your church or a charity of your choice. Mary Marney, daughter of Milton and Ines Curtis, was born Mary Ann Curtis on Jan. 17, 1937, in Mobile, Ala. She moved to Texas with her mother in 1952. She graduated Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas. Her pastor, A.K. Marney, mentioned one Sunday in the evening service that he didn't think his 25-year-old son was ever going to get married, and Mary accepted the challenge. She married Rev. Ben Marney on Feb. 22, 1958. Mary became mother to Barton, Leah, and Kenneth before going to work for the state of Texas. Over the years, Mary worked in several different offices for the state as she and Ben moved from church to church until Ben retired in 1995 and they moved to their home in Fort Worth. She retired in August 1997. After all local members of the family were deceased, Mary and Ben moved to Pennsylvania in 1999 to live in Hollidaysburg. Mary was then able to be more involved with her grandchildren. Mary and Ben, moved to Homewood Retirement Center at Martinsburg, Pa., in March, 2015. Survivors: Mary is survived by Ben, Barton, Leah; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.
