Mary Lou Lewellyn
Mary Lou Lewellyn, 86, a lifelong resident of the Rosebud Community in Walnut Cove, went home to be with Jesus early Saturday morning, October 15, 2016 after a battle with cancer. Mary Lou was born March 8, 1930 in Stokes County to Steve and Susie Smith. She was a member of Rosebud Christian Church and loved her church family. After retiring from farming, Mary Lou began working for Bojangles in Stanleyville. Mary Lou retired from Bonjangles with 30 years of service. Mary Lou loved spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Lewellyn loved gardening, cooking, canning, baking, quilting, playing the piano, listening to southern gospel music and cutting the lawn. Along with her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her son, Rayvon, a sister, Leona Smith and her mother and father-in-law, Sefton and Nonnie Lewellyn. Mary Lou is survived by her Husband of 68 years, Jack Lewellyn, two sons, Earl Lewellyn and his wife Karen, and Donald Lewellyn, three grandchildren, Carsyn, Morgan, and David. She is also survived by her two loving sisters, Evelyn Mitchell (wife of the late Virgil Mitchell) and Georgia Ann George (wife of the late Nelson George). The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Rosebud Christian Church. A 2 pm funeral service will be held immediately after the visitation with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A time of reflection and fellowship will follow the service in the Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family wishes to thank Drs. Evans, Ward, and Yu, and their medical teams for the on-going support and conscientious care they gave Mary Lou through a very difficult time.
