Mary Ann Laux
Mary Ann Laux, 73, of Fort Myers, Fla., died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, in Hope Hospice House in Fort Myers. Mary Ann is formerly of Freeport. Mary Ann was born Nov. 28, 1943, in New Brighton, to Frank and Marth Jane Ballon. She lived most of her life in Freeport, and moved to Fort Myers, Fla., in 2009. Mary Ann worked as a project manager for 30 years with Armstrong County Housing Authority and Westmoreland County Housing Authority. She was a member of St. Mary's Mother of God Church and also attended The United Presbyterian Church of Freeport, where for more than 20 years she was a Sunday school teacher and the director of the junior choir. She lived in Tionesta briefly, where she faithfully attended St. Anthony. After moving to Fort Myers, she attended Church of the Resurrection. She was avid reader and her passion in life was making quilts for others. She was a charter member of the Piece and Happiness Quilt Club in Pennsylvania and she was also the leader for the Jamaica Bay Quilters in Florida. She is survived by her husband, John T. Laux, and three children, Kimberley (Sam) Kelly-Clutter, Christine (Richard) Intartaglio, James (and his fiance, Tracy) Kelly and two stepchildren, Michael (Rene) Laux and Charles (Gretchen) Laux; her grandchildren, Amanda (Charles) Contreal, Sara Jane Freehling, Christopher (and his fiance, Kara) Intartaglio, Jonathan Intartaglio, Leeann (Dustin) Carter, Amber Blanck, Jordan Laux, Savannah Laux, Racheal (Richard) Tran, Karl Hirnyk and Neil Lonero; a step great-grandchild, Ray Tran; and her Godson, Joshua Baker (son of Linda Leri and Keith Baker). Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Mary Mother of God Church in Freeport and will be announced at a later date.
