Mary E. Henry
Mary E. Henry, age 92, of Plymouth, died Saturday April 15. Devoted wife of the late Winfield E. (Buddy) Henry. Loving mother of Winfield E. Henry Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Beverly, and the late Peter H. Henry. Sister of Ann Kemp and the late John Kennedy. She is also survived by her beloved grandson Winfield E. Henry III of Telluride, CO, and her nieces and nephews. A 1942 graduate of Plymouth High School, Mary received her Bachelors in Education, and Masters Degrees from Bridgewater State University. She spent her career as an educator in the Plymouth school system, retiring in 1986 as the Plymouth Carver High School Dean of Women. Mary was a recipient of the Christa McAuliffe Excellence in Teacher Education Award, and a 2016 recipient of the Adele Manfredi Excellence in Education Award. She was a founding member and Treasurer of PREA, a Town meeting member for over 20 years, and a member of the Plymouth Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors. She was also a member of the Black and White Society, Kappa Delta Gamma Sorority, Retired State and Municipal Employees Association of MA, and The Friends of Stephens Field (Preservation of Open Space). She loved her family and friends, the ocean, summers at the Eel River Beach Club, and traveling. A visitation will be held at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth on Wednesday April 19, from 5-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the following day at St. Peters Church in Plymouth at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place in St. Josephs Cemetery, Plymouth.
