Mary Jo Grothe HENRY - Mary Jo Grothe, 79, of Henry passed away peacefully in Dunlap, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday October 14, 2016. She was the daughter of Glenn and Alvena (Fuchs) Holler, born on September 3, 1937. She married Joseph Clift on February 19, 1955. She later married Louis Grothe on June 25, 1995. Surviving are her five children, Patty (Tom) Roberts, Mike (Sharon) Clift, Nita (Bob) Lock, Jackie Russell and Lisa (Ryan) Hmielak; nine grandchildren, Shawn and Joe Roberts, Jori Gerlach, Jody Scheill, Josh and Justin Lock, Bryan and Lance Russell and Calli King; four great-grandchildren, Jozie and Linden Roberts, Merrick Lock and Amelia Russell; and a special companion, Bud Winn. Her parents and her husbands, Joseph and Louis, preceded her in death. Mary Jo was an incredibly strong, friendly, caring woman that adored family time. Her active life included homemaker, caretaker, election judge, employment with Henry Senachwine School District and Betty Sue's catering. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Varna; Henry American Legion Auxiliary, serving as past president; Marshall-Putnam Tractor Association; and Varna Women's Club. Visitation will be Monday, October 17, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home, 513 Carroll St., Henry. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m., with an hour prior visitation at the memorial home, with the Pastor Peter Glock officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Henry, where the procession will include her pride and joy, her white 1963 Cadillac Fleetwood. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
