In memory of
Mary LaWanda "Wanda" (Kilmer) Elliott
Mary LaWanda (Wanda) Kilmer Elliott, 88 years old, of Denver, Pa., passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Oct 8, 2016 at the Ephrata Community Hospital, Ephrata, Pa. Wanda was born on Oct. 11, 1927 in Miami, Fla., the daughter of Stanley Charles and Clara Guinn Dean Kilmer. She grew up in New Albany, Pa., with her family of three sisters, and graduated from New Albany High School in 1946. Wanda worked her high school summers at the Crestmont Inn in Eagles Mere, Pa. After graduation, Wanda moved to Towanda and met the love of her life, William Jennings Elliott. They were married in May of 1947. During their 63 years of marriage, they raised a family of four children and built two new homes (on Thomas Street and on South Fifth Street). During this time, Wanda worked at Grant's and Fazekas Studio in downtown Towanda and taught ceramic classes from their home. Her passion was painting, crafts and ceramics. However, her biggest passion was spoiling her grandchildren. Wanda was a former member of the Towanda Methodist Church. Wanda and Bill retired to the "Dutch Country" where they continued to go on camping trips with Towanda friends, traveled across the nation visiting many National Parks and spending warm winters in Brownsville, Texas. Bill and Wanda also visited her sister (Irby and family) in Germany and enjoyed an incredible journey to Paris, Switzerland and Luxembourg. They also joined the Ephrata Golden Years Club and continued making their crafts for charities and taking bus tours/shows with friends. In later years, Wanda loved to read and enjoyed working in their flower gardens as well as visiting and taking shopping trips with the neighborhood ladies. Family events and holidays were still most important and there was always a reason to go to the Shady Maple Buffet. Wanda is survived by daughter, Dawn Landis of Robesonia, Pa.; son, Lawrence (Elaine McGee) Elliott of Towanda, Pa.; son, Ronald Elliott (Penny) of Lebanon, Pa.; grandchildren, Brian Elliott of Lancaster, Pa., Nichole Elliott Kang (Dave) of Norristown, Pa., Aaron Landis of Wernersville, Pa., and Jesse and Colin Elliott of Tucson, Ariz; sister, Kim (Irby) Franklin of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; several nephews, nieces and cousins; great-grandchildren, Greyson Elliott Kang of Norristown, Pa., Trinity, Skylar and Jayden Elliott of Tucson, Ariz., and Alexiah Brunk of Tucson, Ariz. Preceding her in death was her husband of 63 years, Bill Elliott; daughter, Patricia Ann Elliott; grandson, Justin Elliott; sisters, Mabrey (Dick) Maynard and Eunice (Bill) Foust; sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Elliott Fries and Irene Elliott (Bill) Crayton. Donations may be made in Wanda's memory to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604., or online at www.hospicecommunity.org. This hospice group took excellent care of Wanda for four months with great kindness. A graveside service will be held at noon on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Bradford County Park Cemetery, 20452 Route 6, Towanda, PA 18848. Arrangements by Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Inc.
