Martha Miller Charleston - Martha Milligan Miller, 96, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest Monday, October 17, 2016. The relatives and friends of Martha M. Miller are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 1391 Miles Drive off Highway 171, with The Reverend Donald R. McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM, Wednesday at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Martha's Guestbook may be signed at www.CharlestonFunerals.com . She was born February 23, 1920, daughter of the late Edward Perez Milligan and Helen Coleman Milligan. Martha has lived a very wonderful life with her husband Horace E. Miller, Jr. for 66 years, having been married on June 16, 1939 until his passing on December 28, 2005. She is certainly being welcomed in Heaven by her loving Lord and her beloved husband, Horace (Shine). For Martha and Shine, life was good and the afterlife will be even better. Martha attended Memminger High School and was a full time homemaker from 1939 until her passing. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, church worker and friend to many. She was a life member of the Elks Lodge Ladies Auxiliary (Does) and the Charleston Rifle Club Ladies Auxiliary. Martha was a life time member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and its predecessors, to-wit; St. Peter's and St. John's. She is survived by her son, Raymond E. Miller; her former daughter-in-law, Margaret S. Novit; her grandchildren, Julia Bell Arnold and her husband W. Harold III and their children, Harold IV and Peden; Gregory Scott Miller and his wife, Jennifer Fox Miller and their son, Smith; and Coleman Haygood Miller, all of Charleston. She was also survived by three nieces, to-wit, Sandra M. McEachern, Patsy M. Rentz and Betty M. Stargis and one nephew, Edward P. Milligan III. Martha was predeceased by her brothers, William, Edward and Ransford Milligan. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 1391 Miles Dr., Charleston, SC 29407.
