In memory of
Martha (Steel) Gallagher, 89, formerly of New Alexandria, went to her eternal rest on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, in Parkview Hospice Home, San Diego, Calif., surrounded by her family. She was born May 27, 1927, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Henry Elmer and Catherine M. (Hayden) Steel. Martha was a homemaker and a housewife. She was an active member of New Alexandria United Methodist Church for many years until she moved with her husband, John, to San Diego to be near her daughter, son-in-law and grandsons. She spent her days reading and doing word search puzzles and playing with her great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Gallagher; brothers, John T.H. Steel and L.D. Henry Buck Steel; and sisters, Dorothy HimIer, Margaret Ruffner and Harriett Malling. Martha was the last remaining member of her family. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Gallagher Sader and son-in-law, Michael Sader; grandson, Darren Sader and companion, Cori McGeHee; grandson, John Sader; granddaughter-in-law, Kristen Manchester; and great-grandchildren, Gavin and Kylee Sader, all of San Diego, Calif. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, (724) 468-1177. Services for Martha will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home, immediately following the visitation, with Pastor Rhea Summit officiating. Entombment in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, will be private.
