Martha Anne Fernando, born February 10, 1933, in San Bernardino passed from this life October 2, 2016. She will be buried in graveside services at North Kern Cemetery in Delano, California. She attended Delano High School where she met her future husband Bill. They were married after her graduation and lived in Oakland, CA while Bill served in the navy. After they returned to Delano, Martha worked as an office manager for several businesses. She was active in golf and taught piano. Later she contributed her time to the Delano Music Memorial and PEO charities. Martha's faith was an important facet of her life. She along with her mother and sister Dorothy, established the Delano Christian Science Church. Martha also played piano and organ for other churches and church events. Martha is survived by Steven and wife Kathryn Fernando of Bakersfield, Mark and wife Marcia Fernando of Rancho Bernardo, David and wife Christie Fernando of Valencia, and Jill Zaninovich of Shell Beach. Grandchildren DJ Fernando, Erin and husband Brian Hoff, Kindall and husband Ryan Hetzler, Grant and wife Katie Fernando, Kara Zininovich, Bryan Fernando, Sara and husband Dustin Sclafani, Scott Lackey, Tabitha Lackey and fiance Direck Watkins. Great grandchildren Aubrie, Jacob, Landon, Presley, Nixon, Gunner, and Mila. Also nephew Larry Fernando and his mother Nadine Fernando of Bellingham, WA. Linda and husband Lewis Overbo of Tacoma, WA. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at 11 am, North Kern Cemetery in Delano, CA. Martha requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Delano Music Memorial at 1808 Terrace Dr., Delano, CA 93215, or a charity of your choice.
