Martha Charlestine "Noots" Buckman Henderson, KY Martha Charlestine "Noots" Buckman , age 90, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 8:30 AM, Monday, October 17, 2016, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson. Martha was born on December 6, 1925 and grew up on a farm in Waverly, KY. She attended Hitesville School. She married James Elvie Buckman, Sr. in 1940. Martha was a hard worker. She worked at Tri-State Plastics and later retired from Gibbs Diecasting. Martha was raised in the Catholic faith and was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Waverly, KY growing up. She became a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church when they moved to Henderson. Martha was as good as gold and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was a very kind, thoughtful and loving person. An avid UK Basketball fan, she even kept her own scorebook during games. She enjoyed gardening flowers and tomatoes when she was able. Martha was an excellent cook and made the best vegetable soup. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Davis, her husband, James Elvie "Buck" Buckman, Sr., 3 sons, James Elvie Buckman, Jr., Billy Ray Buckman, Steven D. Buckman, 2 brothers, Raymond Davis, Bernard Davis, 3 sisters, Lula Mae Rhodes, Mary Ellen French and Margaret Duncan. Survivors include: 2 Sons: Jack Buckman and his wife Trudy of Henderson, KY Kenny Buckman of Henderson, KY Daughter-In-Law: Claudia Buckman of Cairo, KY 14 Grandchildren 24 Great Grandchildren 22 Great Great Grandchildren Many nieces and nephews Relatives and friends are invited to Martha's Life Celebration from 4:00- 8:00 PM on Thursday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home and again on Friday from 10:00 AM until the service time. A prayer service will be held on Thursday at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father J. Edward Bradley at 12:00 PM, October 21, 2016 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Henderson, KY. Burial will follow at St. Louis Cemetery in Henderson, KY. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church 511 2nd St, Henderson, KY 42420.
