Marshall Ward 1939 2017 After a short illness, Marshall Ward passed away on April 1, 2017 in Gardnerville, Nevada. In his final days, his wife Leslie was by his side, as were his three children, Steven, Kristina, and Julianna. Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1939 to Hazel and Robert Ward, Marshall grew up in Evanston, Illinois eventually graduating from San Jose State University in 1963. Moving to the Bay Area he developed a successful commercial real estate business and together with architect Larry Simons, Marshall created Waterfall Towers located in Santa Rosa in 1982. In 1989, he moved to Reno, Nevada where he continued to practice real estate. An outgoing and friendly man, Marshall enjoyed social situations and had many friends. He was an avid horseman, a former President of the Wild Oak Saddle Club, and participated in the Los Altos Hunt. For the last 13 years of his life he was very active in AA meetings and found many friends in Reno. During these final years, he especially found solace in Pyramid Lake with its quiet spiritual beauty. Marshall is survived by his wife, Leslie O'Donnel Ward of Gardnerville; brother, Timothy Ward of Cloverdale, Ca; and his three children and their six children: Steven (Ximena), Sora, and Alba Ward of Aichi, Japan; Kristina (Josh), Janney, and Anderson Myers of Santa Rosa.; Julianna (Brian), Beau, and Theodore Frost of Santa Rosa, CA. He is also survived by step-sons Joshua and Theo Geurtsen; Leslie's daughter Kim (Sean) Saucedo of Gardnerville, NV and her children Diana (Austin), Stephanie, Brogan, and Corbin, Dwayne and Nina, who all considered Marshall "Grandpa." Arrangements are being handled by Fitzhenry's Funeral Home in Carson City, Nevada and a gathering of family and friends will be held sometime in the summer.
