Marlys M. Zwart
Marlys Marian Zwart, 80, passed away on Sept. 23, 2016, in Helena, Mont. Marlys was born July 16, 1936, to Leo and Emily (Cole) Galloway, in Spring Valley. She attended school at Spring Valley. She was united in marriage to William Gerit Zwart on Jan. 14, 1953, in Spring Valley. They made their homes in Spring Valley, Chatfield, Wykoff and Pequot Lakes, Minn. Bill passed away Oct. 19, 1982. Marlys continued to live in Pequot Lakes and Breezy Point, Minn. Recently, Marlys made Helena her second home, spending time in both Minnesota and Montana. Marlys was a stay-at-home mom for many years, raising nine children. She also worked in retail before retiring. Marlys loved crafts including sewing, knitting, crocheting, jewelry-making and quilting. She enjoyed sitting in her chair doing her crafts and looking out the window at the views and wildlife on the mountain in Montana. She is survived by her nine children, Mike (Traci) Zwart, of Fillmore, Pat (Gary) Swenson, of Rose Creek, Gary (Kim) Zwart, of Chatfield, Peggy Zwart, of Chatfield, Pam (Brian) Davis, of Spring Valley, Tim (Theresa) Zwart, of Wykoff, Randy (Shelly) Zwart, of Pine River, Minn., Lance (Denise) Zwart, of Stewartville, and Penny Wgeishofski (Scott Franke), of Breezy Point; 31 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Rod Caughey, of Helena. She was precede in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Larry Galloway; an infant grandson, Michael; and a daughter-in-law, Karolyn (Schmidt) Zwart. There will be a Celebration of Life from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 22 at the Wykoff Community Center. A short prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. A private family burial will take place at Frankford Cemetery in Spring Valley.
