Marlene F. Giarmo
Marlene F. Giarmo, 77, of Monroe died at 9:03 p.m. Wednesday at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. She had been in poor health since Sunday. Family and friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Rupp Funeral Home. She will lie instate Saturday 9 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church with the Mass of the Resurrection at 10 a.m. Rev. James Smalarz will officiate with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe. Born November 2, 1938 in Monroe she was the daughter of Leo and Mary (Masson) Padot. She married Vito M. Giarmo on September 6, 1958 at St. Mary Church, Monroe. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2009. Marlene was employed as a nurses aide at Mercy Hospital several years ago. A 1957 graduate of St. Mary Academy, a member of the Mothers Club at Memorial Hospital, and active in the P.T.A. at Monroe Public Schools. She was also a member of St. John the Baptist Church where she served on the parish council from 1992 to 1995 and also served as a greeter. Surviving are sons Michael J. Giarmo of Dundee and Thomas L.(Ninfa) "Fina" Giarmo of Monroe; daughter Denise F. (William) Twiggs of Monroe; sister Delores Duvall of Erie; brother-in-law Fred Hoody of Erie; grandchildren Geoffrey (Lauren) Giarmo, Gregory Giarmo, Gerald Giarmo, Olivia (Joseph) Murbach, Andrew Giarmo and Nathan Giarmo; great-grandchildren Avery Murbach, Everett Murbach and Elizabeth Giarmo; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Maryann and Stafford Joseph Friday of Monroe.. Marlene was preceded in death by her husband Vito and her parents. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
