Marissa Elle Gusto was born May 19, 1996 in Santa Rosa, CA and passed away unexpectedly from an undiagnosed medical condition in Greensboro, NC on September 4, 2017. Our sweet Marissa was welcomed into the world by loving parents and doting grandparents, aunts and unclesall waiting to love and spoil her. She was joined by her little brother and best buddy Ryan whom she adored from the moment she saw him. Marissa was a precocious child with huge green eyes and a sweet smile that could melt the hardest of hearts. The family moved from California to Charlotte in 2007 and Marissa graduated from Providence High School in 2014. She was a gifted student athlete who played volleyball, golf, soccer and basketball. Wise beyond her years, Marissa was responsible and pragmatic, and thrilled to follow her passion by studying Therapeutic Recreation at UNC Greensboro where she was a senior this year. She so loved helping those in need and worked with special needs children and the elderly. Her heart had no boundaries and was a huge part of her shining exuberant personality. The wonderful friends she made throughout her life became like her second family and they, too, will miss her thoughtful ways and infectious smile. The last several months were the happiest of her life and the happiest her family has ever been. The void left by her passing is immense and can only be eased by our knowing she is resting in the arms of our Lord. Marissa is survived by her parents Marc and Kimberly (Ricetti) Gusto and her brother Ryan of Charlotte, NC, her grandparents Judith Ford of Charlotte, NC, George Ricetti of Ukiah, CA, Wanda and Harold Libby of Sarasota, FL, Louis and Sandee Gusto of Redwood City, CA, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins across the US. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:30pm on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 8300 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28277 with a reception to immediately follow in the church's fellowship hall. If you would like to honor her memory please perform a thoughtful act of kindness in her name.
